Worth $10,000 in value, due to the generosity of the Tung Foundation, up to 32 students from both campuses get to participate in this highly competitive sponsored program. This 6-day workshop focuses on identifying creative solutions for specific sustainability design challenges, while connecting students to enhance communications and synergy. You will gain the rare opportunity to visit and learn from sustainable smart projects, and speak to practitioners, while standing to win the top prize of $10,000. A rare opportunity not to be missed!


Eligibility
All UG and PG students from HKUST (both Clear Water Bay and Guangzhou campuses) are welcome to join.
Interested students can sign up online. Up to 32 students will be selected to participate in the program.
Application deadline: 15 Apr, 2025 (Applicants will be informed by 1 May, 2025)
Note: Successful applicants will need to pay a HKD$1000 refundable deposit. Students who withdraw last minute, absent from the full program, or have poor conduct during the programme will have their deposit forfeited.


Event Timeline
Event Timeline
-HK students travel to GZ (coach inclusive)
-Team building activities including Amazing Race ice-breaker on Guangzhou campus
-Program briefing and introduction to campus sustainability efforts and pain points
-Campus tours and interviews with campus sustainability working groups and operators
-Individual presentation
-Team formation
-Lunch in campus restaurant (2 & 3 Jun)
-Dinner (2 Jun) and explore at the Panyu District (南村万博商区)
-Free time to explore Guangzhou in the evenings

-Visit to waste facility 南沙第四资源热力电厂 (coach inclusive)
-Interviews and mentoring from sustainability industry practitioners

-Lunch on and off-campus (4 & 5 Jun)
